Perspective

If you read the medical media you could be forgiven for thinking that doctors in the UK are getting a pretty raw deal. Our pay has been frozen, pensions attacked, and so many GPs claim stress that many are contemplating early retirement.

Read this article, and reflect on how badly off we really are.

  2. This makes grim reading Dr Z. I see this appeared also in the Irish Times recently.

"Madam, – The arrest of more than 30 medical professionals from the Salmaniya Medical complex in Bahrain is deeply disturbing. Several of these doctors, including Dr Basim Dahif and Dr Ali-Alekri, trained and worked in Dublin hospitals. They face military trial and possible execution. I know these doctors. They care for people, not politics. A media, diplomatic and public outcry after their trial may be too little too late. – Yours, etc,

    Prof DAMIAN Mc CORMACK,

    FRCSI,

    The Children’s University Teaching Hospital,

    Temple Street, Dublin 1."
