My dad went to war at 21 to fight against totalitarian rule - you can surely get it together to tell these bastards where to shove their interference? Surely there are some consultants who went to school with Cleggeron? Can't you get together and do something?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4661337961858411173.post-36733199416869655352010-05-07T17:17:44.086+01:002010-05-07T17:17:44.086+01:00I don't accept that. It takes the decision on prescribing away from the front line clinician, who can take all patient factors into consideration, and puts it into the hands of those who often have no expertise in areas where their decisions are felt. That is the only anarchy in the system.
There is also the small fact that, in light of the Herceptin judgement, enforcement of local formularies is unlawfulDoctor Zorrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02066781456935894741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4661337961858411173.post-72662886129990894332010-05-07T12:54:45.167+01:002010-05-07T12:54:45.167+01:00Hmmmm...local formularies are often an endeavour t...Hmmmm...local formularies are often an endeavour to establish some sort of order from the anarchy of clinical autonomy which can be summed up with the expression that asking 12 consultants about the same patient gets 13 opinions.

Some things are sensible even if they get up your nose.

;-)Grahamnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4661337961858411173.post-44721882247507877802010-05-04T13:53:57.431+01:002010-05-04T13:53:57.431+01:00Sadly, there's another reason for a Trust boar...Sadly, there's another reason for a Trust board agreeing to PFI. They may have rubbish buildings and the only way they are allowed to get new buildings may be PFI. They don't like it, but it's the only way the government lets them have the facilities they need.
